Color Changers Cars

Color Changers are 1:55 scale Disney Pixar Cars toys made by Mattel. Color Changers are model cars of popular characters from the Cars and Cars 2 movies. These color shifting cars are plastic and change colors when placed in hot or cold water. Mattel no longer is making Color Changers and thus they are very hard to find. The Cars 2 Color Changers were sold at Toys R' Us exclusively and were pronounced End of Life / End of Line in summer 2011. Where can you buy Cars Color Changers now? The best place for used and new Color Changers is eBay. You can also buy new Color Changers on Amazon. Mattel released several Color Changers Cars in individual packages, 2 packs and in play sets. For both Cars and Cars 2 Pixar and Mattel released Ramone's House of Body Art Color Changers playset. The playset included a replica of Ramone's paint shop and a Ramone Color Changer. For Cars 2 they released Color Changers Color Splash Speedway which included the play set and a color changer Finn McMissile. The Color Changers cars are very fun to play with because they have 2 paint jobs in 1 car!!! All you need is water to play with them as well. Disney Pixar Cars that were made into Color Changers cars include: Lightning McQueen, Mater, Snot Rod, DJ, Boost, Wingo, Dinoco Chick Hicks, Dinoco Lightning McQueen, Darrel Cartrip, Doc Hudson, Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen, Ramone, Red, Sarge, Sheriff, Finn McMissile, Raoul Caroule and Francesco Bernulli.

Will Mattel Make More Color Changers Cars and Where to Buy Color Changers

I will answer two questions that all Disney Pixar Cars Color Changers fans want to know:

1.) Will Mattel Make / Sell More Color Changers Cars?
2.) Where Can I Buy Color Changers Cars?

I emailed Mattel on December 16, 2012 to ask them these questions. Here is their replay:

Dear,

We’re so glad you contacted us!

The item you’re looking for is really popular! At this point I can not tell you if Mattel plans on producing more Cars Color Changers. You can always send us an email with product suggestions.  As for finding the Cars Color Changers I would keep checking online. You can visit our website shop.mattel.com, amazon.com and ebay.com

The following stores carry a wide range of our products: Wal-Mart, Toys "R" Us, Target, K-Mart, Meijers, Fred Meyer, Sam's Club, Shopko, Kohl's, Sears and JC Penney.  The internet is also a great place to find our products. Some places you can look are: www.fisher-price.com, www.walmart.com, www.toysrus.com, www.target.com, www.kmart.com and www.etoys.com.

We wish you good luck with your search!

Thanks,

Mattel Consumer Relations Team

The response above from Mattel is both disappointing and exciting. The good thing is that they know that Color Changers are very popular. Mattel and Disney are both capitalists and them knowing that Color Changers are very popular and rare will tell me that they plan on producing and selling Disney Cars Color Changers. When will Color Changers Car be back in stores? My best guess would be fall 2013. The Mattel customer representative also gave me some good pointers on where to find color changers cars. The unfortunate thing, is that most websites do not carry color changers any more. The only place I can find them is eBay and Amazon and on both sites Color Changers are very expensive and range from $25-100 each car! Yikes. The good thing is that you can still buy color changers cars at eBay and Amazon. Color Changers were released for both Cars and Cars 2. Mattel even made two placesets for the color shifting cars including the Ramone's House of Body Art and Color Splash Speedway for Cars 2. Color Changers are my favorite of the Disney Pixar Cars and Cars 2 toys. I like Colour Changers even more than a lot of the diecast Cars toys. So lets cross our fingers and hope they release some more Cars in 2013. I don't see why they wouldn't, its a definite money maker. The only difficult thing is that colour changers are pretty expensive even in store normally when they were released for being a plastic toy. Color Changers can be made as diecast, but since they would be metal, they would take longer to change color.
